Is the domesticated life cramping your style?

I sometimes think back to the time before I had two kids. When I took simple pleasures for granted like a long, hot shower, eating a meal lasting more than five minutes, a house that was so quiet, I had to leave the TV on, and most of all…sleep. Do not get me wrong, I’ve never been happier than with the joys that come with having a family. It just amazes me how I transitioned from a carefree, indifferent attitude to a life of planning, scheduling and multi-tasking, almost down to the very second I fall asleep. The biggest tool I could use in my life is efficiency, especially when it comes to shopping. For some, shopping is a sport while for others it is just another chore to add on the to-do list. One thing we all have in common is that we want to look our best. It is for that reason that I have shared some of my favorite online shopping destinations.

A virtual one-stop shop for all things chic:

Spawned by Neiman Marcus, it is the ultimate online boutique:

5 Essential style solutions for the modern mom on the run.

Mom On The Run

1. The Go-To Denim
A staple in any wardrobe, denim is known for its variety of washes, fits and embellishments. We as moms know that sometimes the more choices we have the more time it takes us away from the task at hand. I  encourage you to find yourself an MVP pair that will last through any season regardless of occasion. I am always running around in my dark-blue cropped J Brand denim. I wore them through my last pregnancy as long as I could, even turning in the closure until I couldn’t fit past the zipper. They were my go-to pair that I could wear with anything from day to night, it was always just a matter of accessorizing. A good place to begin your search is with PAIGE DENIM. I suggest a dark blue wash with a fit that is most flattering to your frame. If you need extra assistance finding what works best for your body type you can check out their interactive Fit Guide on their website.

2. The Oversize Bag
Bigger is better, especially when you have all of the unexpected instances that come along with parenthood.  Added babies translates to added organization so ditch the diaper bag and opt for more condensed casing for your tiny tots tools that you can easily slip into your oversized slouchy bag or tote. TANO has a great selection of conservatively priced handbags in variety of candy-licious colors.

3. The Platform Shoe
The platform has given us cause to maintain our sex appeal during the daytime even with your children in tow. Whether you choose a platform wedge or heel, the added height lengthens your look without sacrificing comfort. There is a wide assortment to choose from since every known shoe designer has grasped the full potential of the platform. For those of us who remain recession-conscious, I recommend NINE WEST for modern interpretations of the platform with great value.

4. The Dress
Have a power-packed day with multiple meetings and functions? With the right dress you can easily transition your look by simply packing on extra accessories.  Never has it been so easy to create so many different looks with one piece. The key to becoming a fashion chameleon is layering. You can easily take a simple tailored dress to new heights with statement jewelry and an added cardigan or lightweight jacket. Adding a belt to cinch the look goes great with a pair of platform heels. For those of you who need a better visual check out www.marieclaire.com/fashion/trends/articles/spring-dresses

5. The Jacket
A fitted cropped short-sleeve jacket is an instant upgrade. It adds structure to your look so whether or not your kids take you seriously, someone will.
