Here’s our top picks of FREE activities for parents to do with their kids this summer:

  1. Summer Family Program @ Morse Museum:
    Each summer the Morse organizes free programs exclusively for elementary-school-aged children and their parents or guardians.

    • Tuesday Family Tours (June 21 and 28; July 5, 12, 19 and 26; and August 2) Bring your family to the Morse and explore the late 19th- and early 20th-century American art. Each 45-minute tour is led by a Museum docent and includes gallery activities as well as a take-home activity.
    • Friday Family Films (June 24; July 8 and 22; and August 5) This 90-minute program for children includes a short film, a tour of one or more of the galleries and an art project related to the Museum’s collection.

  2. LEGO Mini Model Build @ LEGO Store in Downtown Disney:
    Visit the Downtown Disney LEGO Store on the first Tuesday of every month, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., and your kids can learn how to build a cool mini model and take it home – for free! A new model is available every month and is themed to that month. One free per child. Event is open to children ages 6-14 only.

  4. Free Crafts @ Lakeshore Learning:
    Every Saturday from 11am-3pm, Lakeshore Learning offers free craft activities for kids ages 3 and up. Families can show up any time between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and kids create their craft and are invited to stay and play with anything in the store.

    • June 18: Father’s Day Wallet & Sunny day Visor
    • June 25: Let’s Go Fishing! Little artists cast their lines-and reel in glittery, sparkly, wiggly-eyed fish!
    • July 2: Patriotic Wreath
    • July 9: Mosaic Mirror
    • July 16: Splashy Jellyfish. Kids get creative as they make a colorful jellyfish that gently waves in the breeze like it would in the sea.
    • July 23: My Jazzy Journal
    • July 30: Under the Sea Scene

  5. Regal Summer Movie Express @ select Regal Cinema Theaters:
    Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard to enjoy a great selection of films. During this 9-week festival, select Regal Cinemas will offer selected G or PG related movies for only a dollar on Tuesday and Wednesdays at 10am. Admission is only $1.

    • Participating theaters in our area: Wekiva Riverwalk 8 (Apopka), The Loop Stadium 16 (Kissimmee), Waterford Lakes Stadium 20 & Imax (Orlando), Oviedo Marketplace Stadium 22 (Oviedo), Seminole Towne Center (Sanford), Winter Park Village Stadium 20 (Winter Park)
  6. Family Summer Camp @ Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World:
    Going on now through July 10 Bass Pro Shops is hosting free family activities.

    • Free crafts Tues & Thur from 4-6pm and Sat & Sun from 2-5pm. There is a different craft every week such as a camping photo frame.
    • Free Workshops Tues & Thur from 2-6pm and Sat & Sun from Noon-4pm. Workshops include archery, plants & insects, fishing basics & more. Kids earn a pin for every workshop they complete!
    • Free Activities Tues & Thur from 2-6pm and Sat & Sun from Noon – 4 pm
    • Free S’mores Cookout on Saturday only from 7-8pm

  7. Story Time @ Leu Gardens:
    Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children hosts this free event on Monday, August 1. Enjoy this indoor event the first Monday of each month at 10am. The event and gardens are free.

    • 10 – 10:15 a.m. Infant Time (up to 18 months)
    • 10:20 – 10:35 a.m. Toddler Time (18 months to 2 years old)
    • 10:40 – 11 a.m. Preschool Time (3 to 5 year olds)

  9. Build & Grow Clinics @ Lowe’s Home Improvement:
    Bring the kids into any Lowe’s store, two Saturdays a month, to build a free wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project.

  10. Story Time @ Pottery Barn Kids:
    Any Tuesday visit Pottery Barn Kids from 11-11:30.  On your first visit join the official book club and receive a passport.  After attending five story times, members will receive a special gift.

  11. Firehouse Tours
    Let your kids tour the Orange County or Seminole County Fire Departments to learn about fire safety and touch the cool trucks.  To make a tour appointment contact the firehouse in your county.
