Fun, Family 4th of July Festivities!

Break out your red, white and blue apparel and get ready to celebrate our nation’s independence. It’s the summer’s biggest day - the 4th of July. We rounded up some of the biggest and best celebrations on Saturday and Sunday all over CF.

July 3, 2010

 

Red Hot & Boom - 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs. Red Hot & Boom features live entertainment, children’s activities, vendor booths, food, drink and fireworks. Free.

Party in The Park - 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Newton Park in Winter Garden. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy live music, games, entertainment, food, children’s crafts and fireworks. Free.

Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Park in Winter Park. Wear your red, white and blue, pack a picnic lunch, bring a blanket or beach chair and gather to enjoy this Winter Park tradition. Free.

Animals Vegan Potluck Picnic - 2 p.m. at Mead Gardens in Winter Park. Bring your favorite vegan dish and join ARFF for an afternoon of fun and games for children, entertainment and delicious vegan food! $3.00 donation.

Old-fashioned Independence Day celebration - 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Baldwin Park. The event will include a most patriotic dog contest, street vendors, games, a home-made apple pie contest and a fireworks show. Free.

Red, White and Zoo - 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford. Celebrate the 4th with live music, games, food, children’s crafts, face painting, a waterslide, zoo animal encounters and more! Included with regular admission.

Busch Gardens 4th of July Celebration - Fireworks at 9 p.m., park hours extended until 10 p.m. Stay to ride coasters in the dark. Included with regular park admission.

Watermelon Run - 7:30 a.m. at Mead Gardens in Winter Park. In the festive spirit of the 4th of July, the Watermelon 5k is a non-scored, fun-run for runners and walkers of all ages. The event includes the 4th annual watermelon eating contest. Cost: $20 - $30.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration - 12:30 pm to 10:30 pm at VFW Post 2093 in Orlando. Fun for the family, including a waterslide and bounce house, music, food and more. Bring your blanket and set up by the lake to watch the fireworks at dusk. Donations accepted.

4th Fest 2010 - 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Gaston Edwards Park on the shores of Lake Ivanhoe in Orlando. 4th Fest 2010 will feature 25 bands on two outdoor stages with tons of food, beer and more all day. Cost: $5.

4th of July Celebration - 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Avalon Park. Join neighbors and friends in Downtown Avalon Park  for a traditional holiday celebration. Family activities include: Hot Dog Eating Contest, Home Run Derby, Apple Pie Bake-Off, Bike Parade, Wet/Dry Bounce Park, Community Performances and fireworks. Free.

Fourth of July Carillon Concerts - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Bok Tower in Lake Wales. Celebrate the birth of our country in the Gardens while listening to beloved tunes during the carillon concerts. Free admission will be offered to all branches of the military, active, retired and disabled veterans, and 50 percent off the admission for up to three accompanying guests. Cost: $10.00 (general), $3.00 (ages 5-12)

Kissimmee Independence Day Celebration - 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Kissimmee Lakefront Park South for the annual Independence Day Celebration. Celebrate with live entertainment, bounce houses, patriotic crafts, free snow-cones, a food court, beer garden and dunk tank. Bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn to enjoy the fireworks. Free.

A Flashback 4th of July - 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Celebration Town Center. The evening will include a ’50s costume contest, so come dressed to impress. Get ready to dance the night away at this family-friendly event including inflatable games, a rock climbing wall, face painting and fireworks. Free.

Star Spangled Sanford on the RiverWalk! - 5 p.m. at the Sanford Riverwalk at Ft. Melon Park in Sanford. Pack up the kids, the sunscreen and your favorite lawn chair and check out Star Spangled Sanford, an old-fashioned 4th of July complete with a stupendous fireworks show over Lake Monroe. Free.

4th of July Celebrations at Disney -”Disney’s Celebrate America! - A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” at Magic Kingdom at 9 p.m., “IllumiNations: Reflections of the Earth” at Epcot at 10 p.m., and a special July 4th fireworks presentation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will start at 10 p.m. Included with regular park admission.

SeaWorld AfterDark 4th of July - 9:45 p.m. at SeaWorld. The 13th Army Band, Florida National Guard will perform prior to the fireworks finale, gearing audience members up for the special Fourth of July Reflections show featuring additional fireworks timed to patriotic music. Included with regular park admission.

Busch Gardens 4th of July Celebration - Fireworks at 9 p.m., park hours extended until 9 p.m. Included with regular park admission.
