Wonder what it would be like to walk the red carpet at The GRAMMYs? One Central Florida stay-at-home mom knows. Kristina Nanton just returned from her second trip to The GRAMMYs, and she took a moment to gush about her amazing adventure.
How does a lucky mom like you get to go to The GRAMMYs?
Well, my hubby is an entertainment attorney and has been working in the music industry for more than 10 years. He was awarded a vote at The GRAMMYs about four years ago, and we try to attend whenever we can.
I hear you walked the red carpet, so I have to ask, ‘Who did you wear?’
Well, I’m no Carrie Underwood, so I didn’t get mine free :) I took my 2- and 4-year-old sons with me to try on dresses, and with my 4-year-old son’s input, we ended up with a royal blue dress from Bloomingdales. I actually don’t know what brand it was, and now it’s at the cleaners :) LOL
Did you meet anyone famous?
I SAW lots of famous people, but I actually met and talked to the “pants on the ground” man from American Idol!!
What was your favorite performance of the night?
That is very hard for me. Truly, I am not a huge fan of Lady Gaga, but the performance with Elton John was incredible. I liked her vulnerable side. I also loved Beyonce’ … she is always amazing! I also enjoy the talent of Eminem, but if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be PINK. How incredible and brave for her to swing around wet all over the place and sing!!!! I wouldn’t have chosen her outfit, but … that’s PINK!
How did this year compare to last year’s GRAMMYs?
I think they were both very comparable, but Justin Timberlake did perform last year, and I missed him this time. :)
Where you invited to any of the fancy pre- or post-show parties?
We were invited to a nominee party and the pre-telecast events, but we weren’t able to make it because, this year we had so many people with us. We did, however, go to the official after party and saw a private performance by Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx. It was a circus theme, so they had acrobats twirling around on the ceiling and fire eating acrobats on the floor. There was all the food you could eat and a very cool martini bar.
What was the number one highlight of your trip?
Truly?! Spending quality time with my husband and eating breakfast omelets every morning :)
Kristina Nanton lives in Sanford with her husband Nick and two boys: Brock, 4, and Bowen, 2. When she isn’t attending swanky events, Kristina likes to scrapbook, spend time with her family and cheer on the Gators.
