What’s your Elf up to?

Posted on December 9th, 2009

Are your inquisitive kiddos wondering just how Kris Kringle knows who’s been naughty or nice? We’ve heard some Central Florida parents have invited the Elf on the Shelf to serve as a special spy. Santa has commissioned this elf for a very important assignment: Watch the “Nice-list-hopefuls” during the day and return to the North Pole each night with a full report. Santa then sends the magic Christmas elf back to your house (hence his new location every morning). Sometimes, though, in the wee hours of the night, all sorts of mayhem tends to happen. He’s been known to decorate children’s rooms with lights, get tied up in tinsel and even make some snow angles out of flour. Hey, he’s an elf; mischief is in his nature.

What’s your elf doing? Let’s share the mischief with other Elf Ambassadors – really, we’re just running out of clever ideas and need your help!

Snicklefritz showed up at our house with a sparkle! His first morning he introduced himeself to the kids by making Christmas tree shaped peppermint pancakes with green and red sprinkles. He had them waiting at their spots at the table and had even already cleaned up his own mess. The kids ate him up!

I had my elf sitting in the tree with a long strip of skinny garland in his hand then the other end of it had crazily been placed all over the house. It went from “Jordan’s” hand in the tree to our kitchen cabinet, then over to our dining room light. So the whole day we had to duck to get into he kitchen. He was “decorating,” and I think he could use a few classes. :-)

“Fred” stuck to his name sake and was the “Elf on the Shelf” for the first night….didn’t want to set the bar too high on the first night!! Second night he got a little lonely and changed locations in the middle of the night. By the 3rd night he decided to give the kids a little present and on the 4th night he got into a little trouble…..took the Equal packets and sprinkled them around the living room floor leaving a trail to his new location. Tonight…he plans to decorate the tree while the kids are sleeping. Yes, we have had the tree up for a week with no lights or ornaments…don’t judge :) Happy Holidays and have fun with your elf!

Marco has been visiting all areas of the house. I have three kids (6, 3, and 1). They all love finding him. We have kept it simple this year but he likes to hang from stuff, hide inside of stuff, and loves visiting their rooms. Of course if they aren’t good that day he tells Santa and doesn’t come back the next day. So far so good and he has returned each day. Last year was a different story. He stayed in the North Pole one day. ;) The kids love when he hides in the fridge, in the shower, and hangs from the fan, etc. They think he is just so funny! We have such a good time finding new places for him to land each morning. They have such a good time trying to find him. My one year old has already learned and looks for him each morning. What a great family tradition. We love Marco!
